Marriage leagally?

Hi asked:

As far as getting a married legally all the records remain within the same county? So if I got married in Windell I would not be and suppose if end up getting divorced and remarry in another county , my records for being previously married would not show?

How long does it take at the most for someone to get a greencard after marriage? How long will I able to remarry if I wanted to after my partner got a greencard?

How can I get a copy of my divorce decree?

My records were all destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. The divorce was recorded in Cook County, Ill. Does anyone know how to get copies of such records?
ok people, thanks for trying to be helpful, but here’s the problem. I’m in a FEMA trailor in MS and cant go to Chicago to get a copy of my divorce decree because I work two jobs trying to rebuild my life after Katrina. I don’t have vacation time yet and am just wondering if there is a website or some service that someone is aware of that can get a copy of my divorce decree, which I need for licensing requirements in the casino industry. Someone, anyone please help!

An important question about filing for divorce?

TruthSeeker asked:

As I said in a previous post, my husband claimed tha the filed for divorce. I think it was a lie to placate his mistress and to justify what he was doing (As in when the papers don’t come, he tells me he reconsidered, and tells her that I refused to sign them). Anyway, he said that he had gone to an attorney and filed them on Wednesday. I called the courts both in our current county and our previous county of residence to see if he’d actually filed. They said they have nothing on record. Does it usually take longer than that, or am I safe in assuming this was a lie? I’m thinking about filing on grounds of adultery, and was just wondering if he’d tried to make up something else first… Thanks.
Maxi- I have a full report and a video from a private investigator.

Have you ever been the victim of a campaign ad, even though you are not running?

Reality asked:

I have been, and it has been quite disheartening. The ads have to do with my recent, messy divorce from my wife, Claire, a lawyer who is running for DA on the GOP ticket here in Florida.

First, a Democratic operative linked to her opponent posted a photo of my ex with a felon known as Timdawg, having sexual relations on a picnic table on the web. The time stamp clearly shows she had done this while married to me. I should know. I commissioned the photos to be taken by my friend, Eddie, a PI, but they had gotten into the wrong hands — Timdawg’s. He seemingly sold them to the DA.

Then my wife unleashed a horrible attack on the DA. She had records showing that he had an active prescription to Viagra, even though his wife has been in a vegetative state for the past eight year. He does have a 12-year-old Vietnamese boy adoptee. Then, with her flow charts before the press, she showed a history of the DA being soft on pedophiles. Her conclusion was, therefore, that the DA was using the pills to have relations with the Vietnamese boy. Of course, the DA denies it, but, in this backwater county, it’s the talk of the town and totally overtook the conversation about what had happened on the picnic table with Timdawg.

During this time, I was jumped by Timdawg (who is now no where to be found) and an accomplice and sent to the hospital for two weeks. Eddie at first thought my ex-wife commissioned the hit because I was the deciding vote on my faculty union as to whether we were going to endorse her, and I was leaning toward the DA. Now he has new evidence that will blow the lid off this campaign that he is giving to the local TV channel first thing in the morning — Election Day.

Meanwhile, in all this, I’ve been made to look like a schlep. I teach at a local junior college and one of my students the other day — he has piercings in both eyebrows and his lips, among other places, I’m sure — piped up, Why don’t you just man up and say something about all this? I mean, you wife was doing it on a picnic table, dude, with the guy who cleaned your clock.

The whole class laughed — except for the ones who will get A’s.

In any case, have you ever been hit by your ex-spouse’s shrapnel?

Is he divorced? (Part 2) (Divorcés, lawyers, please respond!)?

Earlier I asked how I could find out if my fiancé is divorced since he hasn’t received any paperwork since they went to court (more than one year ago); it was uncontested and they had no kids. They are still good friends and operate a business. There were no payments to be made (alimony, etc.).

Thanks to Yahoo! Answers, I was told to go online and check the public records in the county in which they went to court. I did and found out lots of information. Now I am seeing Final Judgment and the date they went to court. Does that mean he is divorced as of the court date, and therefore free to marry me? He lives outside of the USA and his American ex-wife may have received both sets of paperwork. i am just curious as I am planning a wedding in 2 months!
Thanks, all! BTW, we live outside of the USA, which is why it would be a hassle to pay for copies of the paperwork. He should have gotten a copy from his ex but I just wanted to know for my own peace of mind!

Does he need my signature to sell the marital home?

The divorce was final in October 08 and I let him keep the house. I’ve given him quit claim deeds signed and notarized several times however he refuses to go file them and says he just throws them away. I was never on the mortgage, just on the deed. Well now the house is under contract and I’m assuming set to close (he shares no information with me) and as of county records yesterday I’m STILL on the deed.

So here’s the questions -

1. It’s in the martial settlement agreement that he gets the house but since he never took my name off, am I going to have to go in and sign?

2. If he really didn’t throw away the quit claim deeds I’ve given, can he take that to closing or does he actually have to go file them?

im pretty pissed because i wrote all this out already and my computer froze and deleted it all.. arrrg.. this is my problem. im married, my wife and i do not live together WE ARE NOT LEGALLY SEPARATED OR DIVORCED yet. We havent even begun the proceedings.. We got married feb. 09 and I left her may 09. We have no children together thank god! About a month ago my wife vandalized my car to the point it will not run. the damage is $9500. I turned all the evidence I had implicationg my wife into 2 police departments. I had pictures of the car, the estimate for repairs needed, and i even had a recording of a conversation I had with some folks who WITNESSED my wife vandalizing my car and both police departments said that they could do NOTHING about it.. They said it doesnt matter if i had the car before the marriage, it doesnt matter if her names not on the title, we are still married. It is hers as much as it is mine.. Fast forward to last nite. Im not typing out all the crap I typed out earlier as to the circumstances of why I chose to do this but I came to the decision last nite to take HER car. I have the key, Ive always had the key and I took it. Now.. going back to what she did to my car.. The police said they couldnt do anything about it because it is her car too.. So why did the police tell me today that the car is reported stolen and If im caught driving it i will go to jail?? What the hell? Is it possible the police officer told me that in hopes id just bring her the car back and restore the peace? So he doesnt have to be bothered with nonsense like this?? I understand in divorce court me taking her car may look bad but im not worried about that… screw that.. i NEED to know about the legal side of things! If she could get away with destroying my car, how is it that i cannot take her car?? I even have her TITLE! Is there anything I can do with the title like add my name onto it? Whats messed up is I dont have a car, Iost my job because of it.. I hear shes getting a new car and fearing that she would trade the car I took from her last nite in for the new car I made the decision last nite to take it because I know once she buys a new car she will not put it in her name therefore in divorce court this new car shes getting will not even be an issue because it isnt in her name.. So I took the car because I have to survive too! She has 100’s of ways to get around town, to work, hell some idiot is buying her this NEW car… I have NOTHING! Nada, Zip, ziltch.. I need lots of input because I dont plan on giving her this car back until i get my own car or the divorce judge orders me to give it back to her.. Please read this carefully, 2-3 times if u have to because i need help. I just dont understand how she can walk all over me and not get in a lick of trouble and i take her car and all the sudden i can be facing jailtime blah blah blah..

What are the legal ramifications if you sign your spouse’s signature on the divorce decree?

brandipatrice asked:

A family member has been battling with a divorce for some time and decided to sign her ex-spouses signature on the final divorce decree. However, she did not realize that her spouse’s ex-lawyer never filed a withdrawal. Therefore the court requires for the lawyer on record to sign the decree or file a motion for withdrawal. A motion was filed but no parties showed up for the hearing and the motion was thrown out. Since the divorce trial is less than 30 days way, it is seems too late to file the withdrawal. Now all of a sudden the spouse wants to cooperate and is willing to sign. Because of time constraints the former lawyer has agreed to sign the divorce decree too. But my cousin is super nervous now and is afraid that the false signature may be uncovered. So, what happens if they go to court and the judge finds out that the signature on the first decree was forged? This case is taking place in Harris County, Houston, TX. Please be very detailed.
A little add in: Texas does not require for signatures to be notarized.

Also, the spouse and the ex-lawyer have agreed to sign the documents now. But the forged copy is on file with the courts.

Also, Is the spouse’s objection the only way she would get in trouble? What is he doesn’t object or protest the signature?

Why provide False Identification when applying for a Marriage License?

redheadedstepchild asked:

My ex even went so far as to travel to a remote county seat, so they would not have any Public Records on file of her previous marriage and divorce, in which she NEVER changed her name back to her maiden name, and would therefore show her identification she was using was FALSE!!
her legal name (changed by first marriage), she kept and continued to use to commit Insurance Fraud. Now, she elects to hide her first married name on her new marriage license because she is marrying MY BROTHER, with the SAME original last name!!!
